The 2-minute weekly newsletter for faith-driven dads in business who refuse to drift.
Good Monday morning after the Super Boring game last night.
All I know is UNC beat Duke this weekend. Last-second buzzer-beater. All is right with the world. Duke =🗑.

QUOTE“The prayer closet is the battlefield where the strongest men of God are made.”—David Wilkerson
If this is true, which I believe it is, then where do you think Satan is going to try and distract you the most?
Satan wants your attention anywhere other than alone with God in the quiet place.
And that “anywhere” can even be good things - your job, your marriage, your kids, etc.
But even good things can get in the way of the main thing.
TL;DR: Don’t be surprised when you try to pray and “other things” suddenly get in the way.
Fight for that alone time. It is worth it.

WISDOMThe hard thing to do and the right thing to do are almost always the same thing.
This was “America’s Divorce Lawyer” James Sexton’s answer to Jay Shetty’s question on what was the best love advice he had ever heard, received, or given.
Here are a few examples of how this plays out in our daily lives:
The hard thing to do would be to wake up early to work out. It is also the right thing to do to live a longer, healthier life.
The hard thing to do would be to speak up and share something on your mind/your feelings with your wife. It is also the right thing to do for deeper connection.
The hard thing to do is to discipline your kids when you are tired, annoyed/irritated and need a break. It is also the right thing to do for them to grow and mature appropriately.
There will always be an easy path. I mean, shoot, our default as humans is to seek the path of least resistance.
Given that, let’s choose the harder path, not just because it is hard for hard's sake, but because it is the right path.
No matter the cost.

ACTIONRedirect instead of reacting.
Where has your attention been trained to react instead of pray, and what would it look like to redirect that energy toward communion with God? (Shoutout Jon Tyson for this question in his weekly newsletter.)
Continuing with the theme of prayer here, have you stopped to think how quickly we run to our own thoughts, reasoning, and emotions in any given situation versus turning to prayer?
From my experience, I react with my own understanding because I’ve deemed it “easier.”
I say “easier” because we create the illusion that it will be easier in the moment, but in reality, it can set us back, versus just redirecting our attention toward communion with God.
Training ourselves to turn to prayer and communion with God before anything else is something we have to actively redirect our minds and bodies to do, even if we don’t feel like it.
The intimacy with God we all want is a byproduct of consistent leaning into communion with Him, regardless of our feelings.
